The first food grown in space was the potato. In 1995, aboard NASA’s Columbia, Microgravity Astroculture Laboratory. Utilizing American innovation biotech called “Quantum Tubers,” marble-sized tubers that seed into life-sized potatoes.

The first food grown (2014) & consumed (2015) in space was Red Romaine lettuce by NASA using an Advanced Plant Habitat called Veggie wherein atmosphere, moisture, nutrients, light spectrum changes, and more.
